Putting Green Bermudagrass Updated and Drone Imaging for Turf Establishment
presented by Ryan Earp, M.S. Graduate Student, Turfgrass Breeding and Physiology
Objective 1: Evaluate several advanced hybrid bermudagrass (Cynadon dactylon x C. transvaalensis) selections for their use on golf course putting greens.
Objective 2: Evaluate the capability of drone imaging technology to determine establishment of bermudagrass trials.
Figure 1: Block 8 putting green trial captured on 9/20/21 height of 0.125".
Released Variety: OKC 3920
1) Evaluated in the 2019 NTEP Putting green trial
2) Cultivar exhibits
- Improved cold tolerance against ultradwarf cultivars
- High turf quality under mowing heights of 3.2 mm
- Sufficient establishment rates
- Fine textured leaf blades
- Early spring green up
- Dark green natural color
- Ball roll approaches ultradwarf cultivars
