To ensure that your proposal is not Returned Without Review, please comply with the following NIFA proposal submission standards:

FORMATTING

• Margins should be no smaller than 1" in all directions
• Font should be no smaller than 12 point, regardless of line spacing
• Number each attachment sequentially

ATTACHMENTS

• Must be in .pdf format
• Must not have any spaces or special characters in the file name. Use and underscore _ instead of spaces.
• File names must be 50 characters or less.
• File names – Many RFAs specifically state a particular file name for attachments.  E.g. “… save file as ‘BibliographyReferencesCited’.
• File headers – Many RFAs specifically state a particular header to be placed on each document.  E.g. “Title the attachment as ‘Bibliography & References Cited’ in the document header.”
• Follow the page limits specified in the RFA. Biosketches are limited to 2 pages + publications listing.

GENERAL

• Project title – is limited to 140 characters. This is due to a form field length in NIFA’s internal system.  Please be sure your titles are 140 characters or less.
