A native of Harbor Beach, Michigan, I earned a B.S. in Environmental Chemistry and an M.S. in Technological Processes from Saginaw Valley State University (MI).  I then attended the University of Minnesota were I earned a Ph.D. in Soil Science in 2013, with a focus on the  impacts of cover cropping with winter rye on the soil, water, and crop productivity.  I began working at Oklahoma State University in 2011 and am currently studying relationships between soil moisture and wildfire activity.  The objective of this research is to understand the soil moisture conditions under which wildfires occur, and to use an understanding of the soil moisture-wildfire relationship to develop wildfire danger assessments and to forecast wildfire occurrence.
